Federal Conservative leadership candidate Lisa Raitt believes that any politician who wants to be successful these days must embrace social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
Raitt may not be sad to see Kevin O’Leary drop out of the race but she is pleased he brought in 30,000 new party members.
Speaking in Moncton, Raitt feels she is a better candidate for several reasons including that she has government experience and is a nicer person than O’Leary.
“I want them (Canadians) to have a better life and I want to help them. That kind of connection I think, whatever medium you use to get it, the most important thing is to let people know that you care and that you want to do better for them. Because you’re just representing them at the end of the day,” she notes.
During her speech to members of the Alma City Club in Moncton, Raitt weighed in on the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Growing up in Cape Breton, Raitt feels she better relates to the East Coast and has the ability to connect with women and urban issues more than O’Leary could.
