Conservative Senator Removed From Committees

The fall out continues for Dryden Senator Lynn Beyak in the wake of her recent comments regarding First Nations.

Beyak has been removed from all Senate committees; the Red Chamber’s agriculture, transport and defence committees.

Leader of the opposition in the Senate, Larry Smith says as an internal matter the Senate Caucus has addressed Beyak’s comments and he considers the matter closed. He adds that her views don’t reflect those of the Senate Conservative Caucus.

In a letter, Beyak suggested aboriginal residents should turn in their status cards in exchange for Canadian citizenship.

Meantime, Grand Council Treaty Three has sent a letter to Beyak, expressing its profound disappointment and lack of judgement for her recent comments. Grand Chief Francis Kavanaugh is calling for her resignation or removal from the Senate. Kavanaugh stresses Beyak is misinformed and continues to speak about something that she clearly knows nothing about.
