Construction Of New Seniors Complex Could Start This Fall

If everything works out, Bridge Road Developments believes it may be able to break ground on a new seniors housing complex in Dryden this Fall.

Capital Coordinator Harry Funk says they have 13-committed tenants right now and a lot of the preliminary work has already been done. Speaking to Rotary members Wednesday, Funk stressed the ultimate goal is making this a made-for-Dryden facility, with the tenants feeling that they have ownership of the building.

Funk says the complex will provide a big economic boost for the City, noting it will keep seniors and their families in Dryden, and may encourage others to move back to the community. He notes in one municipality, Mayor and Council actually developed around the area, making it a huge economic generator.

He adds the complex is a good thing for Dryden, stressing he has received great support from the community and the City. Funk points out there remain some challenges, with a belief that the project will never get off the ground. However, he is confident everything will move forward, noting they are ahead of the game right now, It would be a 3-storey, 24-unit building, with 12 wrap-around balconies, parking and storage, located at 310 Van Horne Avenue.

There would be no maintenance required by tenants. Each unit will range in size from 970 to nearly 1,400 square feet in size.
