Conversation Needed On Medical Assistance Calls

Responding to both emergency and non-emergency medical calls remains a hot button issue in the Kenora District.

The Services Board has long called for a provincial strategy to free-up paramedics who remain bogged down with patient transfers and vast geographical challenges.

Dryden Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the issue needs to be studied, noting it has become a challenge for volunteer firefighters, municipalities, the KDSB and all of those involved.

Kurz says they responded to 26-medical assistance calls in eight months last year and stresses there has been no slow down this year.
