Correctional Officers Appear To Finally Have A Contract

The Province has reached a tentative three-year agreement with correctional workers.

The deal still needs to be ratified, but the Ontario Public Service Employees Union is saying there’s no wage increase until the final year of the contract when members receive a 1.4% bump in pay.

They will also receive a lump sum payment equal to 1.4% of their salary in 2016.

The agreement effects approximately 5,500 workers employed in provincial jails, correctional facilities, youth centres as well as probation and parole officers.

The previous deal with OPSEU expired at the end of last year.
