Local correctional officers are unlikely to shake hands on a new deal with the province.
The Ontario Public Service Employees Union recently agreed to a tentative offer with the government, with a ratification vote set to happen on Wednesday.
Union President Shawn Bradshaw says they’re urging members to reject the contract because they want certain concessions off the table, including a wage freeze and a force out clause for members on long term disability insurance.
Bradshaw says the contract disadvantages new hires and attacks those at the end of their careers.
He feels that Queen’s Park hasn’t come up with its best offer.
