A big decision lies ahead for correctional officers in Ontario.
Members of the Ontario Public Services Employees Union will vote of a tentative contract on Tuesday.
Local union spokesperson James Nowe says declining the offer could lead to a strike by year’s end.
Nowe says they deal is basically the same as the Unified OPSEU deal that jail guards have already rejected.
The biggest change is a promise to create a separate corrections agreement in the next round of bargaining.
Nowe feels the deal does nothing to combat declining staff levels.
