Hydro One is taking a proactive approach to help residents deal with power outages.
Customers can now register to receive personalized text or e-mail alerts about outages in their area.
Vice-President of Customer Service Rob Quail says people need to know two things: that help is on the way and when power will be restored.
Quail says the new service will provide up-to-date information.
