Correctional Officers Still Searching For New Deal

Correctional officers in Kenora and the rest of Ontario could be hitting the picket line in mid-December.

OPSEU Local 719 President James Nowe says things are looking pretty grim since negotiations with the province broke down last weekend.

Nowe says the government came back to the corrections bargaining table telling them to take the offer presented to unified members of OPSEU.

The corrections unit voted 95% against that deal.

Essential service talks will be held this week and the union could be in a no board position in 17-days.

Nowe says current conditions are not safe.
