The Northwestern Health Unit says the cost for families in the Kenora-Rainy River District to eat healthy each month has risen 11% over the past year.
Nutritionist Julie Slack says the over $916 price for food is leading to unhealthy food choices.
Slack says while food prices continue to rise, income has not kept pace.
Slack says the increase is the highest in the province.
