Dryden City Council is addressing some confusion over the new water meter billing system.
Acting Chief Administrative Officer Debra Kincaid says while it may look like double billing in June 2013, all revenues from water/sewer in one month are applied to the previous month. Kincaid says this was the accounting practice in the past, ever since they switched over from Town of Dryden Hydro billing to the DMTS way of billing. Council has provided a detailed explanation of the billing history, including copies of monthly statements from previous years. They are available on the city’s website, www.dryden.ca, at City Hall and at the Dryden Public Library.
Kincaid says they’re also looking into “new” customer’s files from July 2001 to May 2013 to confirm any monthly payments that were made up front during that time, that they were applied consistently to all customers. A solution will be brought forward to council, that addresses the issue in a fair, fiscally responsible and consistent manner.
