Council Still Not Budging on Plastic Bag Ban

Environmental crusader Michelle Arsenault has once again failed to convince Dryden Council to ban the use of plastic shopping bags.
Council has decided to maintain the status-quo and leave it up to shoppers and businesses to decide on making the switch to reusable bags.
Arsenault says the response she’s received from her Earth Day Challenge is that people want change.
She says she’s disappointed with Council’s response.
Council encouraged her to keep up her educational campaign, something she says is difficult given she will be attending school in Guelph.
She says a plastic bag bylaw is economically sensible and will extend the life of area Landfill sites.
Arsenault now turns her attention to September 2nd, when Sioux Lookout Council votes on becoming the first community in Ontario to adopt a bylaw on banning plastic bags.
