Provincial police have issued a warning about a familiar scam that’s back.
Someone claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency is contacting folks trying to get personal banking information or money.
The fraudsters contact people by phone or email.
They are either asked for personal information to update their files or told they owe outstanding taxes.
OPP say information is provided to send payments by wiring money or sending pre-paid debit or credit cards, and that people are told to pay right away to avoid fines, outstanding warrants and even arrest.
The CRA says they don’t conduct business in this way.
