Crime rates are on the rise in Treaty 3 Police service area.
Deputy Chief of Police in charge of operations Terry Armstrong says there are two reports showing the increase.
Calls for service since 2007 have risen 41% and their Crime Severity Index is the highest in the province.
Armstrong says it’s difficult times, but they are looking at streamlining services and changing shift times to better patrol the service area as a way to reduce the crime rate.
He adds that due to a lack of funding from the provincial and federal governments, the force recently laid off 7 junior officer positions.
