Cross-Country Bike Ride To Raise Funds For Wells

Dryden residents have rallied behind a cross-country bike trip in support of the Global Aid Network.
The four cyclists were able to raise over $5,000 during stops to the Mission, Full Gospel Church and at the Timber Community Church.
Rob Montgomery says GAIN has a proven track record with more than 850-wells providing clean water to 850,000 people in Africa.
Montgomery says it costs more than $8,000 to build a well and stresses the fundraising drive will go a long way.
Montgomery notes a World Health Organization report stated that a child dies once every 21-seconds from water bourn disease.
He adds GAIN also provides ongoing training to maintain the wells as well as reinvest in poor communities by building clinics and schools.
They started their trip in Victoria, B.C. on July 1st and plan to finish the trek August 23rd in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
