Cross-Country Ski Program At St. John School To Grow

The Cross-Country Ski program at St. John Catholic School in Red Lake is being expanded.

The school has received $1,500 from the Tbaytel for Good Community Fund.

Instructor Anna Drystek says the money will help them purchase new equipment, including skis, polls and boots.

Drystek says they also plan to offer “skate skiing” thanks to the funding.

Student Ben Baranski is excited for the snow to fly, noting he will be able to take part in “skate skiing”, a sport he considers his strongest.

Baranski says they will now have enough equipment to ensure that everyone will have a chance to try the sport and no one is left on the sidelines.

He says cross-country skiing is a great way to stay active.
