CRTC Relaxing Canadian Content Rules On TV

Our national broadcast regulator is relaxing the rules on Canadian content for the country’s television stations.

The Canadian Radio Television and Telecommunications Commission says it’s removing barriers by reducing quotas on the amount of Canadian programs that local TV stations and specialty channels must broadcast.

The CRTC is also ordering that video on demand services like Shomi and CraveTV are available to all Canadians over the Internet without a television subscription.
