The Dryden Regional Health Centre is hosting a “CT Celebration” on Wednesday.
Hospital Recruitment and Fundraising Coordinator Chuck Schmitt says the community appreciation event will mark the successful purchase and installation of the new CT Scan Unit.
Schmitt says thanks to the big hearts of area residents, the three year campaign was completed in just under 19 months.
A pipe burst damaged the old machine, immediately rendering it non-functional, prompting the hospital to bring in a temporary unit.
That jump-started a quick response from the public as they rallied to raise the necessary funds.
There will be a barbeque for the public and donors today from 11:30am until 1:00pm and there will also be tours of the new CT Scan Unit.
Schmitt says this is their way to say thank you in a very public, honest and open way.
Schmitt says the machine is critical for day-to-day operations at the hospital as it supports their surgical services program and emergency department, adding it’s an important tool for the recruitment and retention of highly skilled physicians and technicians.
He adds they are a small hospital that does big things.
CKDR will be live on location today.
