Another big donation for the CT Scan Renewal Fund at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Wabigoon Lake Bingo dropped off a cheque for $20,000 on Wednesday.
Fundraising efforts are underway to reach $1.25-million and Hospital Chief of Staff Dr. Stephen Viherjoki says patients aren’t the only one benefiting from a fully functional CT Scan Unit.
He says having the machine in Dryden is really an essential tool for physicians to do their jobs.
Dr. Viherjoki says having the ability for more advanced diagnostics really makes a difference in being able to keep physicians working in the community both from a retention and recruitment point of view.
He notes it was a game changer when the hospital first got the CT Scan Unit and adds having state-of-the-art equipment is one reason why he selected to practice in Dryden.
Dr. Viherjoki says the initiative is all about keeping “quality care close to home”.
