CUPE Concerned With LHINS

The Canadian Union of Public Employees is calling on the Province to
hold off on Legislation that would form Local Health Integration Networks.
Michael Hurley says the Networks will compromise the quality of
health care and make it more difficult for Northerners to access already
scarce services.
Hurley says the LHINS will relocate health services to a major centre
which will lead to an outflow of several procedures from Dryden and other
local hospitals.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees is upset because of a lack of
public input and questions that remain unanswered.
Michael Hurley says the Networks pave the way towards privatization.
Hurley adds the LHINS form another level of bureaucracy and don’t fix
the ailing health care system.
