CUPE Local 500 Standing Behind Shoal Lake #40

An important union in Winnipeg is standing up for Shoal Lake 40 First Nation.

CUPE Local 500, Winnipeg’s water delivery workforce, says it’s ridiculous the community has gone nearly 20 years without safe drinking water.

President Mike Davidson says the union is putting pen to paper and has sent a letter to the Minister of Aboriginal and Northern Affairs to fund the project.

The letter also copies the Premier of Manitoba and Mayor of Winnipeg.

Davidson is asking anyone and everyone to write to the federal government in support of Shoal Lake.

Recently the federal government agreed to fund the design of the road but would not commit to its construction.
