CUPE Members Vote In Favour Of Strike Action

No immediate action is planned, but school board employees represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees are prepared to hit the picket lines if they have too.
CUPE says 93% have voted in support of strike action to back contract demands with the province.
The union’s bargaining committee chair Terri Preston hopes it doesn’t come to that.
However, Preston notes the lack of progress in talks has been most frustrating.
Preston says all talk has been around what issues should be negotiated provincially and locally.
He adds the issue has now gone to the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Preston says Board hearings aren’t planned until June.
