CUPE Pleased With Contract for Paramedics

A CUPE National representative would like to see equivalent wages for all Ontario Land Ambulance workers.
Paramedics in the District received a new contract this week after 3 years of waiting.
Garth Smith says Northern Paramedics are faced with difficult and unique challenges and those should be reflected in their wages.
Smith says he would like to see wages for area workers closer to what employees in Fort Frances get.
An Arbitrator made a ruling on the new contract earlier this week retro-active to 2001.
Paramedics will be receiving a wage increase of 27.7% and 28.8% for clerical staff.
