Upgrades to Water Treatment Plants

Troubles with drinking water is something residents in the Red Lake area have become accustomed to.

People drawing their water from the Cochenour system were left hung up to dry this week after arsenic was suspected to be in the system. Subsequent testing proved that not to be the case.

Construction and upgrades to area Water Treatment Plants are on-going and Red Lake CAO Brian Anderson says relief is on the way.

Anderson says the Golden Ward Plant is 6 to 8 weeks away from being operational and the Madsen Plant could be up and running in 4 weeks.

Red Lake and area communities have been under a boil water advisory for over 4 years.
