Mike Davidson of the Canadian Union of Public Employees is not surprised by the current shortage of blood which has hit a 6-year low.
He blames Canadian Blood Services and all the cuts, amounting to $50-million, which he equates to collecting blood on the cheap.
Davidson says clinic hours have been reduced and the times when donors can give blood have been made less convenient for them.
Davidson claims the shortage of blood has also forced the postponement of surgeries.
