Curt Harnett Named New Chef De Mission For Canada Olympic Team

Thunder Bay’s Curt Harnett, one of Canada’s most decorated Olympians, is being named Team Canada’s Chef de Mission for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

He’s taking over from Jean-Luc Brassard who has informed the Canadian Olympic Committee that he is stepping down.

Harnett’s role will be support athletes in a leadership capacity during the actual Olympic games.

Harnett says it’s a great honour and privilege to be named to the leading role, and he looks forward to bringing all of his Pan Am and Olympic experience to the table to support Canada’s athletes’ and coaches’ ambitions in Brazil.

He says he looks forward to leading Canada’s incredible Olympic Team and working closely with the Canadian Olympic Committee to ensure that their athletes have everything they need to compete and win against the best in the world.
