Damage Minimal in Domtar Mill Fire

No one was injured and damage was minimal in Wednesday night’s fire at the Domtar Mill in Dryden.
Domtar Spokesperson Bonny Skene says the fire occurred on the roof of one of the buildings where construction work related to the turbine installation project was taking place earlier in the day.
Mill and City fire crews quickly sprung into action and had the blaze under control in under an hour.
Deputy Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the fire fight was a challenge as the building had no water lines and the freight elevator was not operating at the time.
Crews had to lay hose up a 15-storey stairwell to get to the flames.
A full investigation is underway.
