David Edward Thompson – Dec. 25, 1913- July 30, 2006
It is with great sadness that the family of David Thompson announces his passing. David was born in Lang, Sask, moving to Oxdrift in 1937. He worked as a farm hand for Jack & Mary Skene. He then worked at St. Regis Bag Factory until its closing; he then went on to the Dryden Parks Board. He was supervisor for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family and telling stories about the old days. He was predeceased by his parents David & Mary Thompson, brothers Bob & Wilfred and his sisters Dorothy & Nella. He was also predeceased by his wife Velma in 2002, son Ken 1990, daughter Doreen (Prouty) 1986, son-in-law Harold Prouty 2002 and granddaughter Cheryl 1982. He is survived by his brother Alvin Thompson, his grandchildren Jim (Brenda) Prouty Dryden, On., Ruth(Jim) Sinclair of Regina, Sask., Don(Ana) Prouty, Janet Prouty, Rick(Anna) Prouty, Dan(Gwenda) Prouty all of Fort McMurray, Alta., Cathy(Doug) Hutchison of Dryden, On., and Ken(Tamara) Thompson, Cyndi(Dale) Thompson and Daughter-in-law Janet Thompson all of Prince Albert, Sask. He is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for David Thompson will be held Wednesday August 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Stevens Funeral Homes “Moffat Chapel” with Rev. Brian Eschbach officiating. Interment in the Dryden Cemetery will follow the service. Visitation for David Thompson will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Moffat Chapel.
