Council is being asked to set aside $590,000 for the Dryden Development Corporation.
DDC Chair Janet Pilozow says the money is needed for day-to-day operations, marketing and identifying economic opportunities.
Pilozow says they are looking at 7-key areas to diversify the economy including tourism, renewable energy, agriculture, mining, small business support, infrastructure development and labour force development.
Pilozow says the goal is to bring new dollars and jobs to Dryden and notes they need the resources and finances to do so.
This year, the DDC made some headway by igniting a 4-year option agreement for mineral exploration south of Dryden, a Sustainable Waterfront Development plan and securing the Northwest Response Forum for April 2009.
