A deal with the city of Winnipeg could see a Kenora-area First Nation be provided with safe drinking water.
The development of a new water treatment plant is one of several initiatives to be explored in a new partnership agreement signed between the city and Shoal Lake number 40.
Under the agreement, both sides will seek the necessary government funding while the city will provide the engineering, operations, maintenance and training expertise.
The city obtains its drinking water from Shoal Lake, but the band must boil its water because it doesn’t have a plant.
