There are usually early warning signs that can tip you off to a potential gambling problem.
So says the Responsible Gambling Council, which is out with a new public awareness campaign entitled ‘Check your blind spot’.
CEO Jon Kelly says if these blind spots are ignored, it could lead to a serious problem.
Kelly says a number of counseling services are available for individuals including the Mental Health and Addiction Centre in Dryden.
Additional resources are available on-line at www.checkyourblindspot.ca
He says research shows that an estimated 2,100 people in the Kenora and Rainy-River Districts are experiencing a moderate to severe gambling problem.
Kelly spoke to individuals in Wabigoon Monday night.
