Goldcorp is investigating a death at its Musselwhite mine.
Early Wednesday morning, a scoop operator was working underground when an unexpected rock fell.
The company immediately dispatched first responders and initiated search and rescue operations, however, the worker was completely covered with material, which led to the fatal injury.
Operations at the Musselwhite Mine are suspended until authorities complete their investigation.
Two Ministry of Labour investigators are on scene as well as the OPP.
A Ministry spokesperson says they’ll be looking into exactly what happened and whether charges will be pending.
