The average temperature in Dryden for December was -16.5, 2-degrees below the long term average.
Bill Laidlaw of Signal Weather Services says that made it the fourth coldest December since the turn of the century.
Laidlaw says 2013 was the coldest with an average temperature of -20.1.
He says the month started out mild with above freezing temperatures and then it turned cold.
Laidlaw notes the last 12-days we had temperatures below -18.
The coldest day was New Years Eve with an average temperature of -30.2.
The cold spot in the region was Ear Falls at -17.5, with Sioux Lookout right behind at -17.3-degrees.
