Deer Lake Trio Plead Guilty

A judge will decide the fate of 3 Deer Lake men who pleaded
guilty to beating and leaving a teenager for dead on July 22.
The Crown asked for jail sentences of 3 to 7 years plus
time served for the trio who pled guilty to criminal negligence
causing death.
David Meekis suffered a fatal head wound when he tried to escape
a beating by jumping out of the back of a moving pickup truck in
June 2004.
A fourth member of the group was convicted as a young offender at
an earlier date.
