Canada’s Defence Department wants to build a new range and training area 15-kilometres east of Upsala.
The weapons marksmanship facility will be used by members of the Canadian Army and Royal Canadian Navy Reserve and includes 15 firing lanes, administration buildings and a rappel tower.
Major Phil Quaghebeur says they don’t have an exact opening date as of yet, but hope to get up and running by fall of 2015..
A Federal Environmental Organization is looking into whether an assessment of the project is required and anyone with concerns can comment up until February 7th.
