Demerit Points For Distracted Driving

Provincial Police in Dryden are reacting to news that the provincial government is thinking about a law that would deduct demerit points from distracted drivers.
Constable Erin Huckell says it’s a great idea and will help in a huge way.
Even if you are just holding your cell phone or iPod, that still counts as distracted driving.
Huckell says it’s hard to say what will actually work, but the main focus is preventing collisions from happening on our roadways.
Currently, the fine for distracted driving is $155 with no points.
