He lived in Winnipeg during his high school years, and upon completing his education, moved back to Churchill. This is where he commenced employment with the railroad. In 1952, Dennis moved to Red Lake Road. Then, in 1953, when he moved to Atikokan, he met the love of his life, Olga, and they were married there in October of 1955. In 1963, they moved to Dryden where he pursued a career in insurance business being associated with, and a partner of Skillen Squire Insurance. Dennis retired in 1993. He had also been employed by the Ontario Assessment Review Board on a part-time basis for many years. Dennis and Olga enjoyed camping in their leisure time, spending time at their cottage in the Quetico Park area. In 1992 they started spending time “down south” wintering mostly in Mesa, Arizona. Travel was an important part of their lives as well, and they traveled extensively all over the world. But most important of all was their precious family.
