The jury is returning a guilty verdict for Dennis Oland on second degree murder charges in relation to the death of his father four years ago.
Jury deliberations began Wednesday afternoon, and continued for some thirty hours. Our reporters in the Saint John Law Courts say Oland is inconsolable, and that his wife Lisa fled the courtroom shortly after the verdict was read. He could face life in prison.
The body of Richard Oland was found in his uptown Saint John office in July of 2011, and the high-profile case has since captured the attention of Atlantic Canada.
Dennis Oland is the nephew of Moosehead brewery owner Derek Oland, who has released a statement saying the family is dismayed by the outcome and are certain Dennis had nothing to do with the killing of his father. (Staff photo)
