The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is hoping a visit from the Deputy Minister of Education will lead to future advances in programming.
George Zegarac was recently in the area to take a first hand look at the differences in education between northern and southern Ontario.
Director of Education Sean Monteith says the visit was a great opportunity to show Zegarac the success stories at the board level as well as the challenges facing the education system in northwestern Ontario.
In one case Zegarac visited one classroom in Sioux Lookout where all of the students were from the Far North.
Zegarac made stops at schools in Dryden, Vermilion Bay, Ear Falls, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout.
