DHS Students Compete in Envirothon

It was an opportunity of a life-time for 5 students from Dryden High School.
Christina Tran, Jai Mashru, Jennifer Allen, Zachary Savage and Dion Desserre are back home after competing in the 2011 Provincial Envirothon in St. George.
DHS Instructor Ted Mitchell says the competition is one of North America’s largest annual environmental events.
The students were tested in soils, forestry, wildlife, salt and fresh water estuaries as well as aquatics.
Mitchell says the students also did a 10-minute presentation on restoring the Hamilton Harbourfront to a more natural state.
Mitchell stresses the Public School Board has become a leader in environmental awareness.
The students finished in 14th place out of 21-teams.
