The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care says the diabetes education program in Sioux Lookout won’t be affected by changes at the provincial level.
The Ministry is reacting to a story suggesting the province is terminating its funding agreement with the Northern Diabetes Health Network next month.
Press Secretary Zita Astravas says administration of the funds for the program are being transfered to the Northwest Local Health Integration Network.
She stresses the diabetes program will remain in place and there will be no changes to funding levels.
She adds full time employees at the Diabetes Education Program in Sioux Lookout are unaffected by the change.
Astravas says all money saved through the transition of administrative services will be used to enhance or expand diabetes programs in northern Ontario.
She is expecting a smooth transition.
