New Policy Proposed For Volunteer Firefighters

Several different policies bundled into one.
Next Monday, Dryden Council is expected to adopt a blanket policy for compensation and remuneration for volunteer firefighters.
Acting Fire Chief Ken Kurz says the policy will provide some clarity with Council on compensation rates for emergency response, training, travel and retirement recognition.
It calls for a 2% wage increase.
Members have received a 2% increase over the past 5-years and the policy sets specific review periods.
Kurz says they have had several different policies for hundreds of years and notes volunteer firefighters haven’t had a written agreement with the City since 2007.
