Difficult Rescue In Sioux Lookout

A surprisingly difficult rescue for emergency personnel in Sioux Lookout.

The Saturday afternoon ordeal started around 5 o’clock when Provincial Police were dispatched to an intoxicated girl who was on the northern ridge of Sioux Mountain.

Police determined it was too dangerous to safely navigate her down the narrow and icy trail due to her level of intoxication.

During her rescue, OPP say the girl kicked one of the officers who was trying to help her off the mountain.

Once she was brought to safety, Police say she continued to resist and attempted to bite one of the officers.

OPP say the 15-year-old from Slate Falls faces one count of assault.

The CN rail line had to be temporarily shut down because of the incident.

Sioux Lookout Fire and Ambulance Services assisted in the rescue.
