The Red Lake Miners are expressing disappointment in not being able to host this years Dudley Hewitt Cup.
A Canadian Junior Hockey League recommendation to expand the national championship to a 10 team tournament this year and eliminate regional playdowns has been accepted with the Miners voting against it.
Organizers say a lot of work and preparation was made to showcase Red Lake in all its beauty.
They are thanking all sponsors, fans and volunteers for their support.
The Miners club adds they are also disappointed for the Municipality and the negative economic impact that comes with the decision.
A statement on social media says the Miners are ready to host the 2023 Dudley Hewitt Cup if given the opportunity.
If you have paid for tickets, a plan for refunds will come shortly.
