The Ontario government is being told it should have consulted with health unit’s in the north before lifting the mask mandate.
The mask requirement was lifted by the province Monday.
Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa says COVID cases are still very high in some of the communities in the far north.
Mamakwa says Deer Lake First Nation is facing a major outbreak and the work force is very low.
As of Tuesday the community had 192 active cases.
Deer Lake has a population of 1,200.
Mamakwa says the government needs to provide more medical assistance to the community.
