A heartbreaking and devastating event in Vermilion Bay has turned into an incredible story of giving.
On the morning of October 26th, a brand new ATV being raffled off by the Lions Club, was stolen in front of Bobby’s Corner.
Club member Crystal Mann says the package was chained and locked and someone came with a portable grinder and took off the chains, wheeled the four-wheeler off the trailer, loaded it on a vehicle and took it away.
Mann says they were hoping to make $30,000 for community projects and organizations.
She says they support the 906 Machin Air Cadets, area food banks, the Dryden Hospital, kids programs, dog guides and those in need; just to name a few.
Mann says they proceeded to purchase a new four wheeler to keep the draw alive and had planned to create a Go Fund Me page to recoup the losses.
That’s when an anonymous community member came forward with the money needed to buy a new machine.
Mann says it’s an incredible story of someone coming forward and blowing their minds away.
She says there are so many caring people in the community and the response from everyone has been overwhelming.
Mann says the new ATV has been ordered and will be reunited with the prize package.
Provincial Police are now investigating the theft and anyone with information is asked to contact OPP or Crime Stoppers.
The four wheeler is a 2019 Textron Alterra Mud Pro 700 ATV featuring winch, power steering and mud fires.
And if you want to support various local Lions charities, tickets are only $20 and the draw will be February 23rd.
