Ontario Shipping Wolves To Michigan

A number of wolves from northern Ontario are going to be transported to Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior.

Natural Resources and Forestry Minister Jeff Yurek says the state of Michigan made the request to control a growing moose population.

Yurek says there are very few wolves remaining in the American park and a natural population recovery program is unlikely, so that’s why the government decided to provide assistance.

He says the wolves will be safely transported two hours by helicopter before being released on the island, located 50 kilometres south of Thunder Bay.
