Dogs Lose Heartbreaker in Newmarket

The Dryden Ice Dogs could not repeat their game 5 magic as they fell 2-1 in Overtime to the Newmarket Hurricanes at the Dudley Hewitt Cup. The game was scoreless through nearly three periods of hockey before Chad Liley hammered in a goal with 3:37 left in the game. But Newmarket would pull their goalie and knot the game at one with just 51 seconds remaining. It took just 33 second for the dream to come to an end for the Ice Dogs as the Hurricanes scored to win the game. Newmarket will now face the Oakville Blades in an all OPJHL final with a trip to the RBC Cup on the line. Congratulations to the Dryden Ice Dogs on a hard fought semi-final. Dryden should be proud!
