Domtar Announcement “Devastating”

The Mayor of Ear Falls says the indefinite shutdown of the Domtar Mill planned for this Fall is devastating news for his community.
The Sawmill may reopen once market conditions improve but as Ron Bergman points out you never know when that will happen.
Ron Bergman says any lengthy shutdown may mean people might not have the income to pay their taxes.
Bergman says the Town may be forced to look at its discretionary services as a result.
He adds that the state of the forestry industry has been the topic of conversation for year’s and stresses that folks in Ear Falls need jobs.
Bergman has already been in talks with the Minister of Northern Development, Mines and Forestry about the issue.
