Domtar booked a $58-million profit during the fourth quarter on price increases and higher pulp, paper and wood shipments.
The company says its profits were worth a $1.34 per share in the quarter ending March 31.
That compared to a year-earlier loss of $45-million.
The quarter included about $22-million in accounting charges for writedowns as well as $20-million in costs related to closures and restructuring.
The company also recorded a $1-million gain on the sale of property, plants and equipment.
